Replying and Forwarding a Email with Voiceover on Your iPhone

A couple of notes before we begin:

  1. These steps are specific to the iPhone will not work properly on iPad.
  2. They assume using the iOS 8 to 8.0 or above
  3. They assume you already have a email account setup on your phone.

Steps to replying to an email on your iPhone:

  1. Unlock Your iPhone and make sure Voiceover is on.
  2. Using your flick gestures locate the Mail App and double Tap to Open
  3. By Default the Mail App should load to your inbox.
  4. Locate the email you want to reply to and open it (For further information about this refer to our post on reading email)
  5. Drag your finger up from the home button and you should here delete then slowly move your finger to the right and you here Reply button double tap on this
  6. It will say reply button again and double tap
  7. A email will now come up on your screen ready for you type your reply in.
  8. Write your (Refer to post on Writing Emails) no need to add sender to subject these are automatically added for you.
  9. Once you have written your reply drag your finger down from the top right of the screen until you here Send Button and double tap to send.

Steps to forwarding an email on your iPhone:

  1. Unlock Your iPhone and make sure Voiceover is on.
  2. Using your flick gestures locate the Mail App and double Tap to Open
  3. By Default the Mail App should load to your inbox.
  4. Locate the email you want to Forward and open it (For further information about this refer to our post on reading email)
  5. Drag your finger up from the home button and you should here delete then slowly move your finger to the right and you here Reply button double tap on this
  6. It will say reply button again flick to the right until you here Forward Button and double tap.
  7. A email will now come up on your screen ready for you enter the information.
  8. Enter the people you wish to forward the email to and then flick right until you here message body double tap to add any comments to the email.
  9. No need to add subject this is automatically filled for you
  10. Once you have written your reply drag your finger down from the top right of the screen until you here send Button and double tap to send.

Writing A Email using Voiceover on your iPhone

  2. They assume using the iOS 8 to 8.0 or above
  3. They assume you already have a email account setup on your phone.

Steps to writing a email on your iPhone are:

  1. Unlock Your iPhone and make sure Voiceover is on.
  2. Using your flick gestures locate the Mail App and double Tap to Open
  3. By Default the Mail App should load to your inbox.
  4. Drag your finger up from the bottom left on your iPhone and you will here Compose Button
  5. Double Tap this button to open a new email.
  6. Next you will here To Text field is editing and the keyboard will be on the bottom half of your screen.
  7. Enter the email address of the person you want to send the email to
    1. Option 1 for doing this only works if the person is in your contacts on your iPhone type in the first couple of letters of there name and then flick right and find the contact once you found the contact double tap to add there email address into the To Field.
    2. Option 2 is to simply use the keyboard to enter the person email address letter by letter.
  8. Now flick right until you here Subject Text field.
  9. Double Tap to edit the field and type in the subject to the email.
  10. Then flick right until you here the words message body.
  11. Double Tap to enter a email.
  12. Now we are ready to write a email we have 2 options on how to do this.
    1. Use the keyboard that appeared on bottom of half your screen and type it out.
    2. Use the dictation feature built into iOS. To do this drag your finger up from the Home button until you here Space and slowly move it to the write until you here Dictate and double tap. And Starting talking your message.
      Once you have finished Dictating your message double Tap to stop dictation.
  13. Now we have finished our email it is time to Send it
  14. Drag your finger down from the Top right of the device until you here send Button and double Tap to send the email.
  15. The email is now sent and you will be taken back to your inbox.

As the Mail app on your iPhone can do a lot I am going to break getting to know it with voiceover up into multiple articles, The Article will be:

  3. They assume you already have a email account setup on your phone.

In todays post we are going to look at Reading your email.

  1. Unlock Your iPhone and make sure Voiceover is on.
  2. Using your flick gestures locate the Mail App and double Tap to Open
  3. By Default the Mail App should load to your inbox.
  4. It will start reading you the first email is from and the subject.
  5. If you want to read all of this email double tap to open the email
  6. Now flick down with 2 Fingers and Voiceover will read you the email
  7. When you have tap on the screen to stop voiceover
  8. Now to get back to your inbox drag your finger down from the top left of the device until you here Inbox Button
  9. Double Tap to return the Inbox
  10. Now using your Flick gestures to find the next email you want to read.
